I just stumbled across this blog. Oh wait.. it's my blog!
7 years is a very long time.. What's happened?
Actually I've been doing some sailing, barely enough to disappear from my memoirs. I haven't even talked about my most recent boat, which is now quite old to me in fact.
So here's a brief update: In 2015 I bought "Dolphin" a Halcyon 27 which was moored in Ipswich at the time. It hasn't gone too far in 7 years - it's now at Titchmarsh marina just down the road.
Meanwhile "Moody Magic" has been patiently waiting on dry dock (luckily in a family owned sheltered space) in Aitoliko (west Greece). A few years ago I Moody Magic was ready to sail so I put on my brand new mainsail, started my reconditioned Thornycroft and set off from Lefkas to Messolongi.
I was so excited to finally bend my new mainsail! Alas it wasn't meant to be. The sea was flat as glass, not a ripple to be seen on its surface for almost the entire 50 miles! The only highlight was our stop at Ithaca (Ithaki) where had a nice dip in crystal clear waters.
Several hours of motoring got us to Messolongi where we took the boat out of the water and moved it to the sheltered warehouse were it currently awaits further TLC.
Meanwhile, back in the UK I've been sailing and working on Dolphin. I'll write a few things about Dolphin and our sailing in one of the nexts posts, hopefully before 2030.
